LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — The University of Charleston men's cross country team secured a third-place finish at the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Saturday, earning a spot in the national championships. The Golden Eagles were led by Zane "Iggy" Chalker, who placed fourth overall in the 10k with a time of 30:08.9.
How it Happened:
Charleston's strong showing included Samuel Idiens finishing 10th in 30:23.8, Jules Geoffrey-Remot placing 17th with a time of 30:56.8, and Corey Schobelock crossing the line in 25th at 31:16.4. All four runners received all-region honors for their performances. The Golden Eagles finished behind Davis & Elkins and Shippensburg in the team standings, securing their trip to nationals.
On the women's side, Charleston narrowly missed qualifying for nationals, finishing fourth in the 6k. Beth Sykes led the Golden Eagles with an outstanding fourth-place finish, clocking in at 20:48.9 to earn an individual berth to nationals. Madison Woolwine followed in 13th place at 21:39.6, and Lia Markers finished 25th with a time of 21:59.7. All three runners were named to the all-region team.
