Track & Field Closes Out the Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va.—University of Charleston Men's and Women's Track & Field competed in Lynchburg University's Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23. 
 
Warren Thiel was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles. The senior finished first out of 94 in the Men's 800 Meters with an MEC leading and NCAA provisional time of 1 minute 51.41 seconds. He also placed third out of 27 in the Men's 1500m Run with time of 3 minutes and 53.38 seconds, which is the second fastest time in the MEC.  
 
Like Thiel, Collin Brooks represented Men's Track & Field at the top. As a freshman, he placed second out of 23 in the 10,000m at 32 minutes 17.19 seconds. Also snagging second place was Damian Smith and Kellen Tropeck. Smith finished with a time of 54.87 seconds in the Men's 400 Hurdles, while Tropeck finished with a mark of 43.57 meters. On top of the second-place finish in the shot put, Tropeck claimed the seventh place spot in the discus with a mark of 43.57 meters and the fourth place spot in the Hammer with a mark of 48.27 meters. 
 
Other top finishers for the men include Colin Hunkele (Men's 400m-fourth-48.78; Men's 200m-fifth-22.04), Timber Huysmans (Men's 400m-fifth-48.88), Bram De Raedt (Men's 400m-seventh-49.37), Aidan O'Leary (Men's 800m-eighth-1:56.45), Ryan Blackwell (Men's 3000 Steeplechase-fifthMen's 5000m Run-eighth-15:26.57), Carter Lipscomb (Men's 10,000m-sixth-32:38.24), Brady Miller (Men's 10,000m-seventh-32:38.43), Ashton Weaver (Men's 10,000m-ninth-32:45.95), Roberto Agrizzi (Men's 110 Hurdles-ninth-15.31), Michael Garrett (Men's High Jump-tenth-1.80m), Julian Matthews (Men's Shot Put-ninth-14.57) and Frankie Winter (Men's Discus-eighth-43.57m).
 
The highest placings for UC Women's Track & Field were second place finishes by Abby McKinney and Laura Delgado de Torres. McKinney put up a mark of 46.95m in the Hammer while Delgado de Torres put up a mark of 11.65m in the triple jump. Delgado stood out this meet, as she also placed eighth in the high jump (1.55m) and tenth in the hurdles (15.41). She leads the conference in the triple and high jump and ranks fifth in the 100 hurdles.
 
Mercy Jepleting also performed well, as she took the third-place spot in the 800m in two minutes 19.69 seconds. Additionally, Jepleting finished eighth in the 1500m run at 4 minutes 43.55 seconds, while Madison Woolwine followed swiftly behind her in ninth place at 4 minutes 44.52 seconds.
 
Other top performers for UC Women's Track & Field include Minke Engelbrecht (Women's 100 Hurdles-sixth-15.41), Amanda Brent (Women's 3000 Steeplechase), Kayla Lemkus (Women Triple Jump-fifth-9.95m), Kalista Milne (Women Triple Jump-seventh-9.90m; Women's Javelin-ninth-33.25m) and Stefani Vasileva (Women Triple Jump Championship-seventh-11.00m).
