Golden Eagles Dominant at Golden eagle Invitational

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—University of Charleston Outdoor Track & Field hosted the Golden Eagle Invitational on Friday where they put on an impressive showing. The Golden Eagles secured 14 first place finishes and 50 top five finishes between both the men and the women. 
 
Men's Highlights:
Men's 100m:
Zachary Parsons was the top finisher with a time of 10.89, while teammates Cleadieais Alston and Omar Holeness took the fifth and seventh place spots with times of 11.08 and 11.19.
 
Men's 200m:
Zachary Parsons, Omar Holeness and Cleadieais Alston snagged second, third and eighth place in the 200m with times of 22.38, 22.72 and 22.96. 
 
Men's 400m:
Joshua Sterner crossed the finish line in fifth place at 52.20 seconds, while Damian Smith followed behind him in sixth place at 52.83 seconds. 
 
Men's 800m:
Antoine Aflalo was the first Golden Eagle to cross the finish line, earning him second place with a time of 1:58.81. Alejandro Salgado, Jules Geffroy-Remot and Jaime Blazquez then went three-four-five, while Aidan O'Leary and Anthony Bradford claimed the seventh and eighth place spots. 
 
Men's 1500m:
Antoine Aflalo cruised to a first-place finish with a time of 4:02.81, followed by Jules Geffroy-Remot in second place with a time of 4:02.81. Cole Friend also was a top-five finisher, as he placed fourth at 4:14.86.
 
Men's 500m:
The Golden Eagles had seven top-ten finishers with Zane Chalker coming out on top in 14 minutes 59.99 seconds. Dennis McCheskey, Ryan Blackwell, Collin Brooks and Carter Lipscomb then followed suit, taking second, third, fourth and fifth place. Brady Miller and Tyler Hayes rounded out the top-ten for the Golden Eagles in eighth and tenth place.
 
Men's 400H:
Damian Smith and Michael Garrett represented Charleston in the 400 Hurdles. Smith took first place with a time of 55.48 seconds, while Michael Garrett took second at 58.53 seconds.
 
Men's 4x 400 Relay:
Michael Garrett, Colin Hunkele, James Shamblin and Damian Smith put up a time of 3:42.03 to capture second place.
Men's High Jump:
Two Golden Eagles competed in the High Jump. Michael Garrett put up the highest mark for Charleston at 1.80m, securing him fifth. Cameron Tropeck also claimed seventh place for UC.
 
Men's Pole Vault:
Blake Stanton, the lone competitor for UC in the Men's Pole Vault, soared to a third-place finish with a mark of 2.95m.
 
Men's Long Jump:
Letihogonolo Ramafuthula jumped to second place with at 6.66m. Roberto Agrizzi finished in eight with a mark of 5.69m.
 
Men's Triple Jump:
Ramafuthula also snagged first in the long jump after putting up a mark of 13.40m. He was the only Golden Eagle to compete in this event.
 
Men's Shot Put:
Kellen Tropeck's mark was 16.20m, which was good enough to take first place. Frankie Winter then took second at 14.24m, while Luke Messinger took seventh at 13.30m.
 
Men's Discus:
Tropeck was also dominant in the Discus, throwing a mark of 46.54m to claim another first place finish. Jullian Matthews and Frankie Winter were fifth and sixth.
 
Women's Highlights:
Women's 800m:
Maya Clark zoomed to first place with a time of 2:22.63, while Mercy Jepleting put up a time of 2:23.04 for second place.
 
Women's 1500m:
Beth Sykes, Madison Woolwine and Julie LaFare went one-two-three with times of 4:49.55, 4:49.84 and 4.49.93. Lia Markert was also a top-five finisher, taking fifth at 5:04.18.
 
Women's 5000m:
Lia Markert was the top finisher for Charleston, as she placed fourth at 19 minutes and 10.09 seconds.
 
Women's 100H:
Baile Destefano hurdled to first place in 14.61 seconds. Minke Engelbrecht then finished in third at 15.04 seconds and Laura Delgado de Torres finished in fifth at 15.96 seconds.
 
Women's 3000 Steeplechase:
As the only Golden Eagle competing, Amanda Brent won the steeplechase in 12 minutes and 37.21 seconds.
 
Women's 4x100 Relay:
Domenica Cruz, Mia Huber, Kayla Lemkus and Stefani Vasileva worked together to snag third place in 50.63 seconds.
 
Women's 4x100 Relay:
Charleston had two teams compete in this event. The first team, comprised by Balie Destefano, Miriam Dreher, Emily Kupfner and Sage McLaughlin notched a second place finish. Nadia Calore, Madison Woolwine, Mercy Jepleting and Amanda Brent got third at 4:37.80.
 
Women's Pole Vault:
Amara Mason placed third with a mark of 2.45m.
 
Women's Triple Jump:
Stefani Vasileva and Kalista Milne claimed first and third with marks of 10.75m and 9.54m.
 
Women's Shot Put:
Abby McKinney was a tough competitor, as she tallied her first win of the day with a mark of 11.92m.
 
Women's Hammer:
McKinney then went on to capture her second first place finish with an impressive mark of 45.27m. Ella Nilsson also finished high on the leaderboard in second place at 43.61m.
 
Up Next:
UC will head to Montgomery, West Virginia from Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14 to compete in the Bison Outdoor Classic.
