GREENSBURG, Pa. - The University of Charleston torched the nets in the opening half with six three-pointers to pull out to a 15-points halftime lead en route to picking up a 79-68 win at Seton Hill, Saturday afternoon.
The balanced lineup of Charleston (10-3, 5-2) showed up in force with eight players putting points in the book, while five players struck from behind the arc. UC opened the game behind 11 points from leading scorer 
Paul "PJ" Reyes (Taylor, Mich.), while 
Brandon Ross (Chicago, Ill.) came off the bench to tear through the Griffins for nine points on 4-of-4 shooting. The Golden Eagles forced nine turnovers and held SHU to 12-of-29 shooting to gain the 10 point advantage at the midpoint.
Seton Hill (6-5, 4-3) fell behind by as much as 19 points in the second half despite holding the University of Charleston to just 36 percent from the floor. The inside game of Reyes and post-commander 
Eladio Espinosa (Norlina, N.C.) allowed UC to hold safe the double-digit lead throughout the second half. Attacking the rim also put the Golden Eagles on the free throw line where they were dangerous in the contest hitting 17-of-20 attempts in the game to close out the 79-68 win.
Reyes led Charleston with 20 points and five assists, while Espinosa followed with a strong 17 point and nine rebound performance. Ross was nearly perfect off the bench with a 6-of-7 shooting performance to end the afternoon with 15 points and five rebounds.Deep threat 
Evan Faulkner (Sandyhook, Ky.) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points, which included a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
The win lifts UC into third in the West Virginia Conference standings with conference play continuing on Monday, Jan. 9 in Eddie King Gym against Glenville State. The Golden Eagles will tip off against the Pioneers at 8:00 pm with live audio and video available here at www.ucgoldeneagles.com.
