GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Six players registered double-digit scoring efforts as the University of Charleston men's basketball team silenced the road crowd at Glenville State as the Golden Eagles cruised to an 88-65 conference victory, Monday evening.

Both teams played nearly even for 15 minutes of the first half with the lead changing hands 10 times during that span.  Back-to-back-to-back three-pointers by leading scorer Evan Faulkner (Sandyhook, Ky.) gave the Golden Eagles (5-1, 2-1) some breathing room on the scoreboard at 40-33 with only 2:01 left in the first half.

Glenville State (4-4, 2-3) hit a pair of jump shots to send the teams into halftime with the University of Charleston owning a slim three point advantage at 40-37. UC owned the paint in the first 20 minutes of play outscoring GSC 24-to-8, yet 12 second chance points allowed the Pioneers to stay within reach.

The second half had the teams again back on an even effort with Glenville State deadlocking the game for the 11th time on the evening at 56-56 midway through the second half. It was a three-point play the hard way by newcomer Robbie Dreher (Greenville, SC) that seemingly ignited the University of Charleston offense.

Within a minute and a half of the Dreher play Xavier Humphrey (Wake Forest, N.C.) was burying a shot from down town to push the Golden Eagles lead to 11 points (67-56). Charleston never looked back as they continued to pour in points in the paint to end the game on a 19-6 run that put the Pioneers away for the final score of 88-65.

12 Golden Eagles got into the game with Faulkner leading the offensive effort at 18 points and eight rebounds. Dreher booked 13 points, while Aleksander Kesic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Terrell Lipkins (Canton, Ohio) followed at 12 points each. Corey Jackson (Louisville, KY) joined the top scorers with 11 points with Humphrey recording a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

For the contest Charleston held a 42-to-16 edge in points in the paint to go along with a 25-to-10 difference in points off the bench. UC hit 47 percent of their attempts from the floor (33-of-70), yet held Glenville State to just 33 percent shooting (21-of-63).

Charleston gets the week off for finals before hosting WVIAC contender Fairmont State on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 6:00 pm.
