CHARLESTON ROLLS, WINS THIRD STRAIGHT

Box Score URBANA, Ohio - The University of Charleston men's basketball team rolled to its third consecutive win on Saturday, beating the Blue Knights of Urbana University, 76-61, at the Grimes Center in Urbana, Ohio.

The Golden Eagles were paced by Aleksander Kesic, who finished with 18 points and eight rebounds, and Tino diTrapano, who finished the contest with 17 points. Other big contributors for UC were Xavier Humphrey, who had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Fred Simpson, who added 12 points and six rebounds.


The teams headed into halftime tied at 25, but UC scored 51 points in the second half to secure the win. Urbana would lead by as many as five to start the half, but Charleston's 23-5 run just over eight minutes in put the lead at 18 and out of reach for the Blue Knights.

Urbana, which falls to 0-12 on the season and 0-8 in Mountain East Conference play, was led by Casey Baker's 17 points and 14 rebounds. The Blue Knights also got 11 points from Derrick Sanderfer Jr. and nine points from Dusan Komljenovic.

Charleston moves to 8-4 on the season and 5-3 in MEC play. It will take on Notre Dame College Monday in South Euclid, Ohio, with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. at Murphy Gymnasium. The game was originally scheduled to be in Charleston, but the State of Emergency issued in the Kanawha Valley forced a relocation.
