GOLDEN EAGLES DRAIN 14 THREES, RUN STREAK TO FOUR

Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO – The University of Charleston men's basketball team drained 14 three-pointers and scored 95 points to defeat the Falcons of Notre Dame College, 95-63. Both marks are season highs for the Golden Eagles and with the victory, UC runs its winning streak to four games. Charleston, which finished the contest 14-of-19 from three-point range, also out-rebounded the Falcons by 14, in a 43-29 edge.

UC was led by senior Xavier Humphrey, who scored a game-high 24 points, including six three pointers, added four assists and four rebounds. Denzel Douglas topped his career high in points with 16, while grabbing six rebounds and dishing five assists. Aleksander Kesic continued to be a presence on the floor, contributing 17 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

Charleston's defense frustrated the high-powered Falcons offense, which averages 86.8 points a game, by holding them to 63 on the night. Notre Dame players Lawrence DeArmond, who averages 20.5 points a game, and Tyree Gaiter, 20.4 points a game, were held to 14 and 8 points.

Notre Dame moves to 5-9 on the season and 3-5 in Mountain East Conference play. Charleston moves to 9-4 on the season and 6-3 in MEC play, sitting in fourth place, and will host UVA-Wise, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Eddie King Gym.
