CARDINAL'S TOO MUCH, UC DROPS SECOND STAIGHT, 88-80

Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston men's basketball team looked to rebound after its Saturday loss, however, Wheeling Jesuit University had a different plan Monday, as they defeated Charleston, 88-80.

The Cardinal's shot (57.4 percent from the field) and recorded 26 assist on 31 made field goals.  Wheeling's backcourt of Justin Fritts who scored 19 points and dished six assists and Eric Seifert adding 14 points and nine assists led the way.  Andre Harris and Kyle Ritz each added 14 points and five assists apiece on the night.

Charleston, led by Xavier Humphrey with 17 points and six assist, often settled for the three point shot taking 31 three's against Wheeling's 2-3 zone defense.  Fred Simpson's and Aleksander Kesic's 15 points apiece in the paint didn't phase Wheeling's defense, while Tino diTrapano added 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists for the Golden Eagles.

With the win, Wheeling moves to 9-9 on the season and 8-7 in Mountain East Conference play. UC moves to13-6 on the season, 10-5 in MEC play.
