UC SNAPS SKID, GRABS WIN OVER GLENVILLE

Box Score GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The University of Charleston men's basketball team came out with something to prove Saturday as it defeated Glenville State University, 78-57. 
 
After suffering three straight losses, UC returned to its winnings ways as Charleston, which dominated on the boards with a plus-25 mark, also shot 56 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc.  The Golden Eagles' defense was back on track, holding the Pioneers to just 18 first-half points and only 35 percent from the field on the afternoon.    
 
UC never trailed in the second half after taking a 38-18 lead into halftime. The Golden Eagles attempted only 12 three-pointers after shooting a combined 57 in the previous two games, leading to a balanced scoring attack with four players in double digits.  The Golden Eagles were led on the afternoon by sophomore guard Tino diTrapano, who led all scorers with 22 points.  Seniors Xavier Humphrey and Denzel Douglas added a combined 33 points and 13 rebounds, while Aleksander Kesic finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. 
 
Glenville State, which tallied 14 players logging minutes, only got double-digit production from Donte Morales with 10 points.  Kevin Gray finished with eight points and Lamont Cole added six.      
 
With the victory, UC moves to 14-7 on the season, and 11-6 in Mountain East Conference play.  Glenville falls to 12-8 on the season, 9-7 in MEC play.  Charleston is back in action and will host Concord University on Feb. 13, with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
