UC Slotted at #25 in Final National Rankings of 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Charleston Women's Soccer Program posted their first Division II Top 25 finish in program history season after being ranked No. 25 in the nation at the completion of the 2016 season.

The Golden Eagles, who finished the season with a 15-4-3 overall record, advanced to the NCAA Atlantic Regional round of 32 with a 3-1 win over Edinboro, making their second consecutive NCAA appearance.

Charleston set many program firsts in the 2016 season: most wins in a single season (15), placed nine players on MEC All-Conference teams, placed two players on the MEC All-Tournament team, five NSCAA and D2CCA Atlantic All Region selections, swept the player-of-the-year awards and earned their tenth consecutive NSCAA Team Academic Award.

Charleston returns 22 players in 2017 including: Marlee Coleman, Defensive Player-of-the-Year, Ida Garberg, Offensive Player-of-the-Year, Cassandra Forster, Freshman-of-the-Year, captain's, Dominique Dosky and Zoe Zyta as well as several other key players.

"I am proud of what this group has accomplished. We now know what it takes to get to the next level as a program. In defeat you learn and grow as a team and individual. It is my hope that this season will propel us into 2017 and take care of some unfinished business. Our preparation will begin in the spring and I am excited for what the future holds," stated Head Coach Todd Diuguid.
