FULL RESULTS
MARIETTA, Ohio – Golden Eagle Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field returned to the track Friday evening at the Marietta Alumni Open hosted by Marietta College at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.
The event featured 11 teams from various NCAA divisions in the one-day event on the campus of Marietta College. Both the Golden Eagle men and women didn't disappoint in their fifth meet of the 2017-18 indoor season.
In the women's 55m dash, Charleston's
Tricht Jocelyn advanced to the event finals to finish 3
rd overall with a time of 7.47 seconds, just .05 behind the winner. Freshman
Jamaicia James turned in a spectacular performance in the 400m, claiming 2
nd place with a time of 1:01.87 and was the top DII finisher in the event.
In middle distance, grad transfer
Kelly Whittaker continues to make strides in her transition to the track, breaking the University of Charleston record in the mile with a time of 5:23.10 to place 4
th. She followed her mile performance with a strong showing in the 800m, also finishing 4
th with a time of 2:30.04.
Diana Castillero broke her own Charleston record in the 55m Hurdles that she had set earlier this season, this time running it in 8.43 seconds to earn 1
st place.
The women's 4x400m team of Jocely, James,
Hailey Miller and
Maddie McClintic posted their season best time of 4:15.06 to claim runner-up spot to Division I Ohio University.
Haley Snodgrass won the women's pole vault in a condensed field, vaulting 3.35m to beat the runner-up by nearly a full meter.
Maitri Pansania took the triple jump with a jump of 11.7 meters, then followed up with a runner-up showing in the long jump with a jump of 5.07 meters.
Carol Burgess and Maddie McClintic with 3
rd and 4
th in the event as well to round out UC's top performances on the afternoon.
Charleston gets back in action in two weeks time, competing at the Buckeye Tune Up on Friday, February 16
th then the Kent State Tune Up the following day.
