CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Basketball teams will return home on Tuesday evening at the Wehrle Innovation Center to take on the Pioneers of Glenville State College with tip scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

In the first quarter, the Mountain Lions outscored the Golden Eagles 20-15. UC was 6-19 on field goals and 2-4 on three-pointers. Concord was 8-16 from the field and 2-6 from beyond the arc and had 11 rebounds to go with it. The Mountain Lions lead Charleston 20-11 at one point but allowed the Golden Eagles to come back with 11 unanswered points and brought the game to within five points.
In the second quarter, UC outscored the Mountain Lions 19-15, and brought the game to within one point heading into the half. UC was 8-17 in the field and 3-4 from three-point range. The Mountain Lions were 5-26 from the field and were 2-8 on three-point attempts. Concord took back the lead at the end of the half with 12 seconds left to go as Concord put up a field goal opportunity and got it, allowing them to take the 35-34 lead into the half over UC.
Charleston came back out after halftime and went 5-17 from the field and 1-7 on three-point attempts. Concord was 5-11 from the field and 0-4 on three-pointers. After the end of the third quarter, the game was tied as UC scored 17 in the quarter while Concord tallied 16. Both teams entered the start of the fourth quarter with 51 points a piece.
In the fourth, Charleston scored 16 points while going 5-12 from the field and 2-6 on three-pointers. Concord also had 16 points going 7-11 from the field and 1-3 on three-point attempts. With the pressure building, official time ran out with the game tied at 67 all and forced OT.
Charleston could not get much going in the ladder portion of the game as they could only manage to score five more points while going 1-13 from the field and 0-6 from three-point range. The Mountain Lions sealed the deal scoring 14 points while going 2-4 from the field. They also were 10-14 on their free throw attempts, putting the game away as they won it 72-81.
MEN:
The Golden Eagles dropped their MEC opener at the hands of Concord University 86-78. The Golden Eagles were led offensively by
Devon Robinson who ended the game with a double-double that included 17 points and 12 rebounds.
The game played back and forth through the first seven minutes of the contest with Charleston holding a 15-14 lead with 13:32 remaining in the opening half before Concord would go on a 11-4 run over the next four minutes of play to take a 25-19 lead. The remainder of the first half played nearly even, with the Mountain Lions taking a 46-34 lead into the break.
The Golden Eagles struggled from behind the arc in the first half, converting on just one of their nine attempts (11.1%) while Concord, who shot the ball from three a total of just seven times in the opening half, converted on three (42.9%).
Charleston outscored the Mountain Lions by four points in the second half while converting four of their 10 three-point attempts, but the 12-point first half deficit was too much to overcome as Concord moved to 1-0 in MEC play with an 86-78 defeat over the Golden Eagles.
For the game, the Mountain Lions converted 22-of-26 attempts from the charity stripe while grabbing nine steals compared to Charleston's four during the contest.

The Pioneers come into Tuesday's game with a 3-2-0 record and a 1-0 record in Mountain East Conference play. Glenville is averaging 105.2 ppg, while holding their opponents to just 86.6. After coming off a 127-71 win over the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets the Pioneers are looking to improve to 2-0 in conference play. With their high averages, the Pioneers are No. 1 in Division II in scoring offense, and No. 2 in Division II from behind the arc.
MEN:
Glenville State comes into Tuesday's contest holding a 4-0 record with their most recent victory coming in their MEC opener against West Virginia State 127-115. The Pioneers, four games into the season, rank second in Division II in scoring offense averaging 115.3 points per game. In addition, the Pioneers rank 1
st in Division II in steals per game (16.3), turnover margin (13.3), and assist turnover ratio (2.43). Glenville State has averaged 12.3 made three-point shots per contest, good for 12
th in the country while ranking in the top-5 in assists and blocked shots. The Pioneers are led offensively by Phil Bledsoe, who averages 23.5 ppg, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per contest.
