CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Basketball teams return home on Saturday afternoon to square off against the Bobcats of Frostburg State University with tip set for 2:00 & 4:00 p.m. at the Wehrle Innovation Center.

Men's Basketball Outlook:
The University of Charleston Men's Basketball team fell on the road on Wednesday to the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State 78-72 and now hold a record of 5-2 (1-2 MEC). The Golden Eagles were led offensively by
Drew Rackley , Devon Robinson, and
Lamont McManus who all finished the game in double-figure scoring. Robinson recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 16 rebounds.
The first half went back-and-forth in the with Charleston holding a 39-36 lead going into the break. Despite shooting just 41.9% for the half, the Golden Eagles made 6-of-13 attempts from behind the arc in the opening frame. The Fighting Falcons shot 52.0% on 13-of-25 shooting in the first half but Charleston held the advantage on the board, pulling down 20 rebounds compared to Fairmont State's 12.
UC held an 11-point lead with 8:33 remaining in the contest before the Fighting Falcons put together an 18-3 run to take a 69-65 lead with the help of a trio of three-point shots from Cole VonHandorf. The Golden Eagles would trail by four points with 2:54 remaining and after exchanged possessions, the Golden Eagles found themselves down 73-70 with 53 seconds remaining.
UC finished the game shooting 43.5% from the field on 27-of-62 shooting while Fairmont State shot 28-of-55, good for 50.9% in the contest. Charleston did outscore the Falcons in second chance points, as they held a 22-8 advantage for the duration of the contest.

The Bobcats come into Saturday's matchup holding a record of 2-5 (1-2 MEC) while falling to the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State 103-80 in their most recent contest on Wednesday evening. The Sean Brown led Bobcats average 78.2 points per contest and are led offensively by Daniel Alexander who averages 23 points and 8 rebounds per game.
The Golden Eagles and Bobcats have never faced off as the opposition is in their first season as a member of the MEC and Division II.
Women's Basketball Outlook:
The University of Charleston Golden Eagles Women's Basketball team (5-2, 2-1 MEC) defeated the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State University (4-4, 2-1 MEC) 82-68 on Wednesday Night at Joe Retton Arena. The Golden Eagles were led offensively by
Brooklyn Pannell, who finished the game with 23 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.
In a game propelled by four Golden Eagles with double-figure scoring, the University of Charleston Women's Basketball team used a 32-0 advantage in points off the bench to secure a 14-point victory over the Fighting Falcons.
The first quarter saw UC get out to a fast start, taking a 9-2 lead through the first three minutes of the game before the Fighting Falcons put together an 8-0 run to take a 10-9 lead. Over the final five minutes of the opening quarter, five lead changes between the teams allowed for Fairmont State to carry a 16-15 lead into the second quarter.
The Falcons increased their lead to as many as three in the second quarter before the Golden Eagles exploded for a 16-4 run over five-minute stretch to hold a 35-26 advantage at the break. Charleston converted on 15-of-27 shots (55.5%) in the first two frames while holding the opposition to 12-of-33 shooting (36.3%).
Fairmont State would strike back in the third quarter, putting together an 11-4 run to cut the Golden Eagle lead to four at 42-38. After the UC lead was cut down to as little as three, the visitors finished the quarter holding a 51-46 lead.
Nine seconds into the final quarter,
Dakota Reeves converted on a three-point attempt to increase the Golden Eagle lead to 8. Charleston would use that momentum to increase their lead to as many as 15 in the fourth before finishing the game with an 82-68 victory.

The Frostburg State Women's Basketball team heads into Saturday's holding a 1-7 (1-2 MEC) record. In their last matchup, the women fell on the road to West Virginia State 94-87. The Bobcats average 65.0 ppg and are led offensively by Stephanie Diggs who averages 13.6 points per contest.
Like the men, the Golden Eagles and Bobcats have never faced off as the opposition is in their first season as a member of the MEC and Division II.
