Track and Field Continue to Break School Records and Earn Top MEC Times After an Impressive Weekend in Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio - The UC Men's and Women's Track and Field traveled to Ashland, Ohio for the Judd Logan Light Giver Ashland Invitational this past weekend to compete. The Golden Eagles continue to make a name for themselves in the Mountain East Conference and for the NCAA. 

Thomas Termote and Flora Tissier earn Mountain East Conference Athletes of the Week after their outstanding performances over the weekend. Highlights are below.

Thomas Termote continues to push the boundaries on the 3,000-meter run in the MEC. Termote set the new school record for the race and a new personal best of 8:20.92. This impressive speed gives him the #1 time in the conference. 

Flora Tissier finished second overall in the women's mile run this past weekend. Tissier was second to a Division I runner, and with her speedy time of 4:55.71, she earns the new school record and #1 time in the MEC. This time is an NCAA provisional qualifying time, and this also has her in the top 30 in NCAA Division 2.

Both Termote and Tissier were competing against 60 competitors in their respective races to finish with their great times. 

New School Records

Louanne Pouzancre set the new school record for the 400m run after running a new personal best of 56.29. Pouzancre earns the #1 spot in the MEC for the 400m and an NCAA provisional qualifying time.

Lily Dowdell continues to make a name for herself in the MEC. Dowdell set the new school record for the 800m run after finishing with a time of 2:18.07. This time ranks her #2 in the MEC.

Top 10 MEC Rankings

Men:

  • Emirh White currently holds the #10 spot in the MEC for the 200m run with a time of 22.52. This time earned him a 14th overall place on the weekend. 

  • Roberto Agrizzi earned the #5 time in the MEC for the 60m hurdles after competing at 8.47. Agrizzi placed 10th overall this past weekend.

  • Shot Put/Weight Throw: Kellen Tropeck currently holds the #1 spot in the shot put and weight throw. Tropeck threw the shot put an impressive distance of 16.15 meters to earn an overall 4th-place finish on the weekend. Tropeck wasn't finished though. He threw the weight throw a total distance of 17.24 meters to earn an overall place of 9th on the weekend.

  • Colin Hunkele holds the #1 spot in the MEC after running the 400m race with a time of 49.02. Hunkle placed 6th overall for the weekend.

  • Teammate Alejandro Salgado currently holds the #4 spot in the 400m run for the MEC after running 50.14 this past weekend. Salgado placed 15th overall.

  • Jaime Blazquez is currently #6 in the MEC for the 800m run. Blazquez ran a time of 1:56.45 to earn the #6 spot and a 16th place overall in Ashland. 

  • Matthys Bourse holds the #4 seed in the MEC for the mile by running a speedy time of 4:15.39. Bourse had a top-10 finish on the weekend by placing 6th overall.

  • 3,000 meters: Iggy Chalker ran a current #7 time in the MEC with 8:35.59 to place him. He also earns a top-10 finish on the weekend by placing 8th overall.

Women

  • 200m: Louanne Pouzancre has earned the #1 time in the MEC after running 24.41 over the weekend. She earned a 5th-place finish overall. 

  • 800m: Maelle Fuchs holds the #3 ranking in the MEC after running a 2:21.13 time. Fuchs earned a top-10 finish by placing 10th in Ashland.

  • Teammate Patricia Alonso-Munoz holds another top-10 MEC of #7 after running 2:25.86. Alonso-Munoz finished 24th overall.

  • Mile: Lily Dowdell earns the #2 time in the right behind teammate Flora Tissier after running 4:59.62 on the weekend. Dowdell placed 3rd overall and both Dowdell and Tissier broke the former school record held by Dowdell. 

  • Teammate Julie LaFare also earns a #4 ranking in the MEC for the mile after running 5:09.48. She also earns a top-10 finish on the weekend placing 9th overall

  • Madison Woolwine joins her teammates in the top-10 rankings for the MEC after earning the #7 spot by running 5:17.28 over the weekend. Woolwine earned 15th overall place on the weekend. Charleston women have 6 of the top 8 mile times in the MEC this indoor season. 

  • Triple Jump: Miriam Dreher holds the #2 spot in the MEC after jumping 11.44 meters. Not only does she hold a top-3 conference ranking, but she also placed 3rd overall on the weekend.

  • ECKayla Lemkus joins her teammate in the top-10 MEC ranking with a #7 spot. She jumped a total distance of 9.91 meters to also earn her an overall 16th place in Ashland. 

  • Abby McKinney is currently ranked #4 in the MEC for both the shot put and weight throw. In spot put, she placed 20th overall with a distance of 11.24 meters. For weight throw, she earned a 27th overall finish with a distance of 13.90 meters.

  • Miriam Dreher holds the #2 in the MEC for the long jump after completing a distance of 5.44 meters. Dreher also earned a top-10 finish on the weekend by placing 7th overall.

Continued Success
 

Men:

  • 400m: Warren Thiel earned 22nd overall with a time of 50.54

  • Teammate Antonio Sneed also placed 32nd overall with a time of 52.04 for the weekend.

  • 800m: Anthony Bradford ran a time of 1:59.07. This time gives him the #13 time in the MEC and a 24th overall finish on the weekend. 

  • Mile: Cole Friend holds the #16 spot in the MEC with a time of 4:25.68. Friend earned 27th overall.

  • 5,000 meters: Emmanuel Yego earns a top-10 finish of 9th overall and current #15 time in the MEC after running 15:28.45

  • Ashton Weaver earns 16th overall in the 5,000m run with a time of 15:51.99.

  • 60 meters: Karlo Bogdan placed 12th overall with a time of 7.24.

Women:

  • 60: Aalyiah Sheffield placed 19th overall with a time of 8.17 for the weekend.

  • 200m: Aalyiah Sheffield continues her success with a 29th overall finish and a time of 26.92.

  • 400m: Erica Davis earns a 15th overall finish with a time of 1:02.12. Teammate Marina Barahona was 25th overall by running 1:03.59, and Dasheya Booker earned 32nd overall with a time of 1:04.43.

  • 800m: Madison Woolwine placed 29th overall with a time of 2:27.49. Morgan Turner ran a time of 2:33.22 to earn 42nd overall.

  • 3,000 meters: Mercy Jepleting placed 13th overall with a time of 10:34.52.

  • 5,000 meters: Lia Markert earned a top 10 finish by placing 10th overall with a time of 19:19.75.

  • 60 meters hurdles:

    • Miriam Dreher ran a time of 9.57 to place 15th overall.

    • Laura Delgado de Torres ran 9.96 to earn 20th overall.

    • Aleisha Coolen earns a time of 10.07 to place 23rd overall.

    • Rayanna Bradshaw ran 10.37 to place 27th overall for the weekend.

    • Amara Mason ran a complete time of 11:08 to earn 33rd overall in Ashland.

The Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Teams continue to put up ground-breaking numbers during the season and allow themselves to not only be recognized by the MEC but the NCAA. 

What's Next: The Golden Eagles travel to competitive Grand Valley State University to compete on Friday, February 10th, and Saturday, February 11th in Allendale, Michigan.
