Blacksburg, Va.—On Friday, University of Charleston Cross Country competed in the Virginia Tech Invitational where the women placed third and the men placed second above Marshall University.
Freshman George Couttie led the Golden Eagles to a second place finish, as he set the Virginia Tech course record for the men's race and a new school record for the 6k with a time of 17 minutes and 57 seconds. The men beat out MEC conference foe, Concord University, and Division I Redford and Marshall University for the second place spot.
UC Women's Cross Country finished in third place, only three points behind Marshall. Sophomore Julie Lafare also finished in third place with a record-breaking time of 14 minutes and 20 seconds. She was the first Division II finisher and set a new school record for the 4k.
