UC Head Men’s Basketball Coach Dwaine Osborne Notches 200th Victory

| By:

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Dwaine Osborne earned a milestone victory yesterday, as he led his team to a 94-62 win over Salem University in his eleventh season as the Head Coach for University of Charleston Men's Basketball.

Osborne has the highest win percentage (.669) and is the second winningest coach in the history of UC Men's Basketball. Since becoming the head coach in 2013, Osborne has guided the Golden Eagles to the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championship game four times and has been named MEC Coach of the Year three times. Currently, his team is tied with West Liberty and Davis & Elkins for first place in the MEC with five wins and one loss.

In addition to his 200th win milestone, Osborne is also just 11 games away from securing his 300th career victory. He started his head coaching career at Glenville State where he led the Pioneers to a 20-9 record during the 2008-09 season—its first 20-win season since 1973. From there, he was hired as the head coach at the University of Texas Permian Basin. Osborne coached the Falcons to two winning seasons, two conference tournament appearances and a regular season conference championship. He also received Heartland Conference Coach of the Year honors during the 2010-2011 season.

Osborne looks to continue his winning ways as his team takes on Notre Dame College at home in the Wehrle Innovation Center on Saturday, January 13.
