The University of Charleston Baseball squad has seen a lot of changes since they were crowned Mountain East Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champions in the spring of 2023. One change includes the hiring of new Head Coach Dean Peterson, an Ohio native that was selected in the ninth round of the 1993 amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox. Prior to joining the Charleston coaching staff, Peterson worked as an assistant coach at Frostburg State University for three seasons where he helped lead three athletes to All-Region honors in the 2023 season.

Another change for the program includes the loss of All-Americans Tyler Dellerman, Kyle West and Cole Peschl. In his final season, Dellerman was named the MEC Player of the Year and received All-American Honorable Mention, All-Region First Team and All-MEC First Team recognition. He led the team in RBIs with 66 and presented a batting average of .373 with 19 home runs, 15 doubles, a triple, 42 walks and an OPS of 1.267.Â
