HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The University of Charleston overcame nearly all of a 19-point deficit, but Northern Kentucky University held on for a 69-66 victory Saturday night in Highland Heights, Ky.
The Golden Eagles (2-1) trailed 54-35 midway through the second half, but trimmed the deficit to 67-66 on a Jonathan Liggins three-pointer with three seconds remaining.
Northern Kentucky (3-0) then sealed the victory with two free throws.
Liggins led UC with 27 points and eight rebounds, and Brandon Ross added 14 points. The Golden Eagles will visit Pitt-Johnstown on Tuesday, November 23 for a 7:30 pm tip-off.
