GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The University of Charleston men's basketball team drilled 11 shots from behind the arc and was 17-of-18 from the free throw stripe en route to securing the season sweep of Glenville State 88-68, Saturday afternoon.

UC (19-5, 14-4) shot just 39 percent in the opening half as GSU (6-15, 5-12) kept pace with the three-point barrage by going 11-of-22 from the floor. The Pioneers got to the charity stripe 14 times against Charleston in the first stanza as the two teams headed into the locker room deadlocked at 35 points, each. Under the basket Eladio Espinosa (Norlina, N.C.) helped the visitors keep pace with 14 points and six rebounds before the break.

The second half brought a renewed energy to Golden Eagle leading scorer Paul "PJ" Reyes (Taylor, Mich.) as he exploded for 24 points. Reyes led a 53 point second half effort with 7-of-10 shooting as the rest of the UC team went 9-for-19 from the field to run away from Glenville State in the final five minutes of play.

A relentless defensive effort forced 19 Pioneer turnovers that led directly to 25 points on the other end of the court for Charleston in the 20-point victory.

Reyes concluded the afternoon with a strong 31 point, eight rebound and four steal effort to lead all players in the contest. Espinosa set a career-high for himself after a big first half to end the game with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Coming off the bench Hayden Annett (Portland, Australia) continued his late-season scoring push with 14 points in just 13 minutes of play. Annett and Reyes combined for eight shots from three-point range as Evan Faulkner (Sandyhook, Ky.), Xavier Humphrey (Wake Forest, N.C.) and Brandon Ross (Chicago, Ill.) split the other three deep buckets.

The University of Charleston entered the contest ranked ninth in NCAA Division II in rebounding margin and continued their dominance of the boards against Glenville State. UC held a +9 rebounding margin (37-to-28) in the win.

Charleston extends their winning streak to seven games and returns to the court looking for number eight on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 8:00 pm against Fairmont State.

The University of Charleston recogizes all members of the U.S. military on Thursday with Military Appreciation Night. All service members who present a valid military ID at the ticket booth will receive two free tickets for the Fairmont State contest.
