Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - In what would be an uphill battle from the opening tip the University of Charleston men's basketball team would suffer their second loss of the season at the hands of Shepherd University 87-72 Sunday at the Butcher Center in Shepherdstown. Sunday's contest between the two was rescheduled from Saturday due to Shepherd hosting a quarterfinal matchup in the NCAA Division II Football Championship. Charleston who never led during the contest was led by 15 points from
Denzel Douglas on six of 11 shooting from the floor and three of four from the foul line. UC would be outrebounded 37-30 on the glass giving up 17 offensive rebounds to the Rams and 23 second chance points.
Shepherd University
Brantley Osborne would lead all scorers with 22 points on the night and added eight rebounds and four assist. Rams
Austin Cunningham and
Kevin Jones would each score 16 a piece and account for 10 assist between the two of them. Shepherd moves to 7-1 on the season and remains unbeaten in Mountain East Conference play at 4-0.
Charleston falls to 5-2 on the season 2-2 in MEC play. UC's
Fred Simpson finished with 14 points while
