KESIC'S 24 POINTS LEADS UC TO SECOND STRAIGHT

ATHENS, W.Va. - The University of Charleston men's basketball team won its second straight game, defeating Concord University 81-73 on Thursday night. Charleston's Aleksander Kesic could not be stopped, as he connected on all 11 shots he took from the field and finished with a career-high 24 points.

UC trailed 41-36 at the half, but managed to stay composed and was able to push the lead out to 11 with a little more a minute to go. However, Concord's intensity pushed the Golden Eagles, and it cut the lead to six with 27 seconds left. Three free throws by Hayden Annett and Xavier Humphrey, who had 10 points on the night, sealed the victory for Charleston.

Tino diTrapano and Denzel Douglas holstered the back court for Charleston, adding 25 points, six assists, and six rebounds between the two of them. Critical UC possessions were extended by 12 offensive rebounds and 15 forced turnovers, which translated into 21 points.

The Mountain Lions' AJ Williams led the offensive attack with 18 points and five rebounds, while Mike Boyd added 14 points and seven assists. Aaron Miller added 11 points in 16 minutes of play for Concord.

UC moves to 7-4 on the season, 4-3 in Mountain East Conference play, while Concord moves to 5-8 on the season, 2-5 in MEC play. Charleston travels to Urbana, Ohio, to play Urbana University at 3 p.m.Saturday, Jan. 11th.
