DITRAPANO'S CAREER HIGH LEADS UC TO SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN, 90-77

Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Tino diTrapano's career-high 28 points led the Golden Eagles to their sixth straight win Thursday night, 90-77, against West Virginia State University at Eddie King Gym. The rivalry game didn't disappoint, as the University of Charleston managed to lead wire to wire, keeping the Yellow Jackets at an arm's distance away.

Charleston took a 47-31 advantage into the half, but WV State scored the first seven points to open the second half and cut the lead to nine. However, that's the closest the Yellow Jackets could get, as UC was too much to handle inside, dominating the boards to a 43-29 edge, and holding on for a 13-point victory.

Xavier Humphrey's double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds, which featured his 800th point as a Golden Eagle, and Denzel Douglas' career-high 19 points were a supporting cast to diTrapano and UC. Alesksander Kesic once again was a force in the paint with 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets were led by Anton Hutchins' 23 points and seven rebounds, followed by Bo King's 15 points and four steals. WV State's Dimitrios Jelen-Joy added 10 points.
With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 7-7 on the season and 4-7 in Mountain East Conference play. Charleston moves to 11-4 on the season, and 8-3 and a tie for second place in MEC play. UC will play Fairmont State in Fairmont on Saturday, Jan. 25, with tip-off slated for 4 p.m.
