CHARLESTON, W.Va- The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named Colt Webb as the DII National Pitcher of the Week on April 20, 2022. He made a clean sweep of conference, regional, and national honors on the week; winning MEC's Pitcher of the Week, NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week, and NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week.
Â
Webb a Redshirt Senior from Newport, NC was nothing short of stellar in two games last week. He began his run Monday against the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan and pitched six innings of three hit ball, walking just two and allowing one run. He would strike out eight Bobcat hitters en route to his third win on the bump of the season.
Â
That would set the stage for Saturday against the visiting Senators of Davis and Elkins. Webb would take the bump on just five days rest and was utterly dominant. He would work seven frames without allowing a hit and facing just 22 batters. The Newport native allowed just four baserunners in the contest (2 BB, HBP, and a dropped third strike) and struck out seven senators on his way to the ninth no hitter in Charleston history. It would mark the first no hitter since 2000 for the school and complete an astounding week.
Â
Webb's line for two games was 13.0 IP, 1.00 ERA, 15 Ks, 4 BB, 3 H, 1 R, 2-0 W-L. On the season Colt has 51.0 IP, a 3.88 ERA, 55 Ks, while allowing 25 hits, and 15 BB. He ranks 6th in the MEC for ERA, 7
th for opponent batting average (.251), 5

rd in strikeouts (55), and 2
nd in strikeouts looking (16).
