Charleston Baseball Makes First NCAA Postseason Appearance

Indianapolis, Ind. - Charleston baseball earned an automatic bid for the NCAA Atlantic Regional for the first time in program history after capturing their first MEC Tournament title. The seven-team regional will be held at Owls Field in West Lawn, Pa., from May 17-21 hosted by Millersville University.

Charleston, with a 34-21 record earned the No. 7 seed and plays PSAC runner-up and host Millersville in Thursday's opening round. The tournament includes three games with the championship game set for Monday, May 21. The regional champion advances to the NCAA Division II Championship held in Cary, N.C. 

The top seed in the Atlantic Region is PSAC East champ and reigning national champion West Chester (31-15). Millersville has been a top-two regional seed five times since 2011. The No. 3 seed is Mountain East runner-up Shepherd (38-15). The Rams take on sixth-seed and PSAC Tournament champ Seton Hill (31-20) in the first round. The No. 4 seed Bloomsburg (31-18) takes on No. 5 seed and PSAC West champ Mercyhurst (31-18) in the opening round. 

With the victory on Sunday for the MEC Championship, the Golden Eagles posted their second consecutive 34-win season tying last year's team as the single-season winningest team's in program history.    

All-session passes for the tournament are $30 for adults and $15 for students and senior citizens. Daily tickets are also available. All of the games will be live streamed. Game times and brackets will be released Monday.
