CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Basketball teams will play at home on Wednesday evening as they square off against the Hilltoppers of West Liberty University with tip set for 5:30 & 7:30 p.m. at the Wehrle Innovation Center.

Men's Basketball Outlook:
The University of Charleston Men's Basketball had a dominant offensive showing at home on Wednesday in route to a 107-87 defeat over the Bobcats of Frostburg State to improve their record to 6-2 (2-2 MEC). The Golden Eagles were led offensively by
Eddie Colbert III, who finished the game with 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting, 15 rebounds, and 2 assists. Three other Golden Eagles including
Devon Robinson,
Lamont McManus, and
Garrett Denbow all finished the game in double-digit scoring figures. The 107 points for Charleston was the most the team has scored since December 1, 2016 when they defeated Urbana 116-96.
Over the first three and a half minutes of the second frame, the Golden Eagles extended their lead to 28 after putting together a 10-3 run. UC would extend their lead to as many as 37 points with 9:39 remaining as they held an 89-52 lead. Frostburg State would then claw their way back, forcing a handful of turnovers to put together a 35-14 run of their own over the final nine minutes of the contest to bring the score to 104-87 with under a minute remaining. The Golden Eagles would cap off the night with a three-pointer from Colbert to secure a 107-87 victory.
Charleston finished the game shooting 58.6% while converting 9-of-24 attempts from behind the arc. Despite converting 10 attempts from three, the Golden Eagles were able to hold the Frostburg offense to 49.2% shooting.

The Hilltoppers come into Wednesday's matchup holding a record of 6-2 (3-1 MEC) with their most recent victory on Saturday coming over the Senators of Davis & Elkins College by a score of 103-73. The Hilltoppers rank 2
nd in Division II in scoring per game, averaging 106.5 points per contest while also ranking second in steals per game with an average of 12.6. West Liberty is led offensively Dalton Bolon, who averages 20.8 ppg and 7.1 assists per contest.
In their history, the Golden Eagles and the Hilltoppers have matched up 19 times with West Liberty holding a 15-4 advantage. In their most recent contest, the Golden Eagles edged the Hilltoppers 87-86 on the road as Drew Rackley led the way with 22 points.
Women's Basketball Outlook:
The University of Charleston Golden Eagles Women's Basketball team (6-2, 3-1 MEC) defeated the Bobcats of Frostburg State University (1-8, 1-3 MEC) 99-56 on Wednesday Night at the Wehrle Innovation Center. The Golden Eagles were led offensively by senior
Anna Hayton who tied a career-high in points as she dropped 30 while shooting 13-of-18 from the field and 1-of-3 from three-point range.
The Golden Eagles came out hot in the first quarter leading by a score of 11-2 to begin the game. They went on to take an early lead at the end of the first quarter by a score of 24-16. UC was 9-of-14 from the field, went 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, and had a total of 8 rebounds. Frostburg was 7-of-18 from the field while they could only manage to go 1-of-4 from three-point range.
UC stayed hot in the second quarter as they were 9-of-14 from the field and 1-of-2 from three-point range. They managed to score 23 more points in the quarter. Frostburg was 5-of-12 from the field and 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. UC took the lead into the half as they led Frostburg 47- 34.
Charleston took no time to widen their lead over the Bobcats in the third quarter as they were 13-of-17 from the field and cashed in on two three-pointers on four attempts. Frostburg could only manage to scrape together five points in the quarter. UC headed into the fourth quarter with an 82-39 lead.
In the final quarter of the game, the Golden Eagles scored 17 more points going 6-of-13 from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point range. Frostburg added 17 more points to their total as well as they were 7-of-17 from the field and 1-of-5 from beyond the arc. Charleston closed out the game with a final score of 99-56.

The West Liberty Women's Basketball team heads into Saturday's holding a 5-3 (2-2 MEC) record. In their last matchup, the women defeated Davis & Elkins College 86-78. The Hilltoppers average 80.6 ppg and rank 3
rd in Division II in three-point field goals made per contest with an average of 10.5 per game. The Hilltoppers are led offensively by Morgan Brunner who averages 21.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per contest.
