Dawson compiled one of the most impressive records ever at the University of Charleston as a member of the Men’s Tennis team from 1991 to 1994, finishing his career at a perfect 130-0 in WVIAC singles and doubles competitions.
He was a WVIAC singles champion and was named All-WVIAC all four seasons. Dawson earned the title of WVIAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Year his junior and senior seasons while at Charleston. Dawson competed in the NAIA National tournament in four consecutive seasons, advancing to the third round in 1991.
The Golden Eagle team won four consecutive WVIAC titles during his playing career.
