Nick Bias, a 2006 graduate of Concord University, has become one of the most successful coaches in University of Charleston history. Since taking over the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs in 2014, Bias has guided the Golden Eagles to 29 Mountain East Conference team championships and seven Atlantic Region titles. He has coached 158 individual MEC champions, 151 First Team All-Atlantic Region selections, and 14 All-Americans.
Under his leadership, Charleston has made six Men’s NCAA Cross Country Championship appearances, all finishing in the top 25, highlighted by an 8th place finish in 2022. The women’s team has qualified four times with a program best 15th place finish in 2022. That same year, his teams swept the MEC and Atlantic Region titles, cementing Charleston’s status as one of the premier programs in the nation.
Nick’s athletes have also earned three Atlantic Region individual championships, numerous school records, and national recognition beyond UC. Among his many success stories, he coached an athlete who qualified for the 2024 United States Olympic Marathon Trials. He has earned 33 Coach of the Year honors, leading dominant cross country and track teams, including back-to-back men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor sweeps in 2024 and 2025.
