Hall of Fame
Dawson, a 1951 graduate of Morris Harvey College, was inducted into the Golden Eagle Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.Â
He competed as a duel athlete at Morris Harvey College in football and baseball.
Dawson was part of three WVIAC Championship football teams (1948, '50, & '51) including the undefeated 1950 team that won the Tangerine Bowl and was named the Small College National Champion. Â Dawson led the nation in punting average that season.
Dawson helped lead Morris Harvey College to three WVIAC Championships (1948, '49 & '50) earning All-WVIAC honors in the 1948 and 1950 seasons as a pitcher. Â In 1980, Dawson was voted as the Most Outstanding Right Hand Pitcher in WVIAC by coaches and athletic directors.
