A four-year letterwinner, Sean Teepen was a cornerstone of UC Men’s Soccer from 2009–2012, anchoring the Golden Eagles during one of the program’s most dominant stretches. With Teepen in goal, UC claimed four consecutive WVIAC regular season and tournament championships, establishing themselves as a perennial powerhouse in the region. He played a key role in guiding the Golden Eagles to the 2009 NCAA Elite Eight, a run that marked one of the deepest in program history,
followed by another postseason appearance in the 2010 NCAA Sweet Sixteen and a trip to the Round of 32 in 2012.

Individually, Teepen’s consistency and presence earned him wide recognition. He collected All-WVIAC honors three times and was named to the All-Region team in each of his four seasons. In his senior year, he wore the captain’s armband, demonstrating both his leadership on and off the field. His ten shutouts during the 2009 campaign remain among the top single-season performances in UC history, ranking seventh all-time.

Following his standout playing career, Teepen transitioned seamlessly into coaching, serving as an assistant from 2013–2015. During his tenure on staff, UC continued to thrive, capturing three straight MEC Tournament titles and back-to-back MEC regular season crowns in 2014 and 2015. The Golden Eagles also cemented themselves nationally, reaching the NCAA National Championship match in 2014 and advancing to the National Semifinals in 2015. With Teepen on the sidelines, UC compiled an impressive 54-9-2 record and boasted the nation’s top goals-against average in 2014, underscoring his impact on the program’s continued success.
